At the beginning of the year, we installed solar panels on the rooftop of our west London studio, helping our office to be self-sustaining by harnessing our own electricity.

We can monitor the amount of power produced from the solar panels, surplus electricity returned to the grid, the amount of electrical power we consume and our own additional grid consumption, all of which depend on amount of daily sunlight hours.

At Tuckey Design Studio we are on the road to becoming Planet Mark certified, meaning we are on a staged program for our office to achieve net-zero status, with our solar panels a contributing factor to achieving this goal. This ambition aligns with our wider practice ethos of reinventing existing buildings and sustainable new-build construction, most pertinently represented in our recent Rammed Earth House project.
