A trip to the Scottish wilderness

This week we were on site amidst the breath-taking scenery of northern Scotland. The visit was to assess the orientation and condition of various interspersed existing buildings that, in their derelict state, have slowly been reclaimed by the rugged landscape.

An unassuming country house is at the epicentre of the site, alongside a steading, cottages, agricultural barns and a remote bothy in the shadow of surrounding Munros. The early design intent is to convert this eclectic mix of structures into a tailored hospitality experience, with hotel, restaurant and sculpture gardens. A public art gallery will complete the scheme, with a permanent collection exhibiting some of the biggest names in modern and contemporary art.

Recently photography by Fran Mart showcases the drama and poetic context in which the buildings sit. We look forward to sharing more news on the project in the coming months as the proposals gain momentum, exciting times ahead!
