Acland Burghley School
Acland Burghley School has long been an iconic brutalist statement in the North London urban fabric. We have remodelled a sequence of interiors within this Grade II listed 1960s school.
The complex provides secondary and sixth form education for 1000 students and is an integral cog within the local civic infrastructure. We worked closely with Camden Council to frame and sensitively uncover some of the building’s original features, such as shuttered concrete pillars, while greatly improving wayfinding and accessibility.
The project addresses desired improvements to safeguarding, with a new entrance, reception, refurbished library and technical suites for T level learning. A material palette of reclaimed worktops, cork and straw panelling articulate joinery that frames board marked concrete.
The project is financed by Camden Council and Duke of Edinburgh T level funding.
