The choice of materials arose from opposing the robust character of the adjacent brick terraces and the informal, utilitarian qualities of the existing gap site. Ethereal translucent polycarbonate lines the elevations, punctured by balconies and blurring the transition between interior and exterior. Corrugated fibre cement boards comprise the roof, capping the design intent of elevating industrial materials through precise junctions and minimal visible fixings.

The courtyard becomes the primary space around which daily life revolves – an outdoor room to which all the main living spaces are connected.
